Known as “La Capitale dei Trulli” Alberobello is one of the 50 Italian sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The name comes from the ancient Greek τρούλος, or “cupola”, the famous prehistoric dry stone conical buildings.
The Trulli are still used today as dwellings and their architectural style is unique in the world. Alberobello is a small village easy to sightsee and is one of the Itria valley municipalities.
